REAL ESTATES

PROPERTY SEARCH AND TRANSACTION EXPERIENCE

PROJECT SUMMARY

NewStar Realty served several groups with very different needs. Homebuyers wanted to find and compare properties. Brokers needed to manage listings and leads. Underwriters and customer service teams needed accurate information. Business leaders needed better visibility into activity and performance.

The existing digital experience made those tasks harder than they needed to be. JPDESIGN worked with the organization to simplify property search, improve the web and mobile experience, and create a clearer connection between customer activity and internal workflows.

OUR APPROACH

Research started with the people who used the system differently. Buyers, brokers, underwriters, service teams, and leaders did not need the same information or actions. The team used interviews, market research, usability review, and audience segmentation to understand those different needs.

That led to three priorities:
• Make search easier. Bring the most important property search tools closer to the start of the experience.
• Match information to the user. Organize content and functions around different customer and employee needs.
• Connect digital and operational work. Support brokers with mobile access while using analytics and testing to improve the customer experience.

Heat maps, analytics, experimentation, and user feedback helped guide continued improvements.

RESULTS

The redesigned experience improved property discovery and created a clearer path between customer search and business activity. The project also introduced mobile capabilities that helped agents manage listings and transactions away from the desktop. The original project reporting recorded major gains in site traffic and conversion after the redesign, supported by ongoing analytics and optimization.

The larger lesson applies to automation today: A useful system must understand the user's role, surface the right information, and help them take the next action. Data automation and pattern recognition can make that process faster, but only when the underlying workflow makes sense to the people using it.
